HOW TO INSTALL YOUR OWN RAIN GARDEN!
Thursday, September 25th - 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Fanwood Library - Fanwood Room
“HOW TO INSTALL A RAIN GARDEN AT YOUR HOME”
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AT THE FANWOOD MEMORIAL
LIBRARY
Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County
along with the Rutgers Cooperative Extension
Water Resources Program want to teach
homeowners how install rain gardens at their
homes! At this free educational program,
homeowners will learn the basics of rain
garden installation and will leave with
information to help them get started with
their very own rain garden projects. Rutgers
Cooperative Extension’s rain garden experts
will teach homeowners what they need to know
to get started with their own rain garden
projects, from the site selection to the
choice of plants. Rain gardens are
beautiful, inexpensive, and low-maintenance
gardens designed to intercept, treat, and
infiltrate stormwater at the source, such as
a rooftop or driveway, before it becomes
runoff. The plants are native to the region
and help retain contaminants that could
otherwise harm nearby waterways. In
September 2005, a rain garden was constructed
at the Fanwood Memorial Library to serve as a
demonstration garden for community residents
who would like to install rain gardens at
their own homes.
Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County
and the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Water
Resources Program invites all interested
adults to attend their “How to Install a Rain
Garden at Your Home” program. The program is
funded by a USDA Cooperative State Research,
Education and Extension Service National
Water Quality Program Grant.
This informative presentation and outdoor
tour of the Fanwood Memorial Library rain
garden will begin at 7:00 PM on Thursday,
September 25th in the Fanwood Room on the
lower level of the Fanwood Memorial Library,
located on North Avenue and Tillotson Road in
Fanwood, New Jersey. This location is not
handicapped accessible, but alternate
arrangements can be made to provide the
information.
Please call Rutgers Cooperative Extension of
Union County at 908-654-9854 to register and
for more information. This Rutgers
Cooperative Extension “How to Install a Rain
Garden at Your Home” program is free and open
to the public without regard to sex, race,
color, national origin, disability, handicap,
or age. The program is Information is also
available on the Fanwood Memorial Library’s
